Curriculum vitae

Stefan Seiler, PhD, studied education and psychology at the University of Freiburg (CH) and at the University of Leeds (GB). Between 1999 and 2002 he was research assistant at the Swiss Military Academy at ETH Zurich in the teaching and research unit for Leadership and Communication Studies.
From 2002 to 2006, Stefan Seiler worked for Credit Suisse in Zurich and New York. His latest position was Member of Senior Management. During his first three years with Credit Suisse he worked as management consultant and assessment specialist. He was then responsible for the conception and implementation of individual assessments, assessment centres and development centres for senior managers. As project leader he was in charge of developing and redesigning various assessment tools and management development programmes. He then worked for a year and a half in New York, first as an integration manager in a glob restructuring project, then as project leader for the implementation of a corporate Human Capital Management Process in America and Asia.
Between 2000 and 2003 he was also lecturer for communication at the Institute for Human Movement Sciences at ETH Zurich.
Since 2006, Stefan Seiler has been working as Head of Leadership and Communication Studies at the Swiss Military Academy at ETH Zurich. His and his team's research efforts are aspects of leadership, personnel management and development, conflict management as well as leadership ethics. He furthermore deals with issues of intercultural management. His research work focuses on practical issues of leading co-workers and the transfer of ensuing results to the world of employment. He also runs seminars for civilian and military leaders in Switzerland and abroad.
Stefan Seiler serves in the Army in the rank of a major and, as a reserve (militia) officer, is a member of the military science workgroup in support of the Chief Land Forces. Before taking up his current military function he was company commander for several years, executive officer and chief of staff of a pioneer battalion.
